Ajit Jain, vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway's insurance business, knows that Geico lags behind its peers in data analysis.

"As Warren has pointed out in the past, one of the shortcomings Geico faces is that it is not doing a good job of matching interest rates to risk and segmenting and pricing products based on risk characteristics. ... Geico is not good at managing risk,"Jain told Berkshire investors.

"Unfortunately, technology is a bottleneck," he said. "But then again, we are making progress. Yes, I realize we are still lagging behind, we are taking steps to close the gap, and of course by the end of 2025, we should be fighting side by side with the best players in data analysis."
